Hello Log College families,
Though school begins on August 28, you can begin planning for the athletic season in advance.
Athletics:
In order for 7th/8th grade students to participate in our athletic program, each child must have the following completed and submitted prior to the first day of tryouts (tryouts typically begin during the first or second week of the school year).
PIAA sports physical -
All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2024).
Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8. Page 9 is only for students participating in wrestling during the winter season. The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23
A district contracted doctor will be available during the school day to perform physicals for one day only at Log College for $20 (Time and date TBD, but likely during the first week of school). You may also visit any of the Liberty Urgent Care Locations between now and the start of the Fall season, and they will honor our district’s price of $20.
Concussion Test completion
Concussion tests are a baseline assessment that helps our coaches ensure the concussion safety of our students as they participate in sports throughout the season.
Within the first few school days, each team will host an information session after school (from 3:00-4:15 p.m.). Concussion testing will be completed during these sessions.
Following the session, late buses will also be available to return students home, or you may pick up your child.
If you would like to get an early start on your concussion test, WTHS is offering testing over the summer in the WTHS cafeteria (more info below):
Concussion testing will be held in the cafeteria from 1pm-3pm on the following dates:
Monday 6/17 - Friday 6/21
Monday 6/24 - Friday 6/28
*Please have your child use this link to sign-up for a date/time
*Fall Sports 2024: Fall 2024 Concussion Testing (signupgenius.com)
*Athletes will need to bring their chromebook to complete the test, WTHS will have extra for anyone who needs it.

Academic Eligibility:
You must pursue a full-time curriculum defined and approved by your Principal.
You must be passing at least four full-credit subjects, or the equivalent, as of each Friday during a grading period. If you fail to meet this requirement, you will lose your eligibility from that Sunday through the Saturday immediately following the next Friday as of which you meet this requirement.
You must have passed at least four full-credit subjects or the equivalent during the previous grading period, except that eligibility for the first grading period is based on your final grades for the preceding school year. If you fail to meet this requirement, you will lose your eligibility for at least 15 or 10 school days of the next grading period, beginning on the first day that report cards are issued. If your school has four grading periods, you will be ineligible for at least 15 school days; if your school has six grading periods, you will be ineligible for at least 10 school days.
We look forward to an excellent athletic season!
Sincerely,
Mr. Golderer
