Dear Centennial School District Parents, Guardians, and Staff:
Today, we received notification from our weather service regarding a large-scale winter weather pattern change that is expected to impact the northeastern United States.
Per our weather service...
The upcoming January weather pattern is likely to unleash extreme cold and below-average temperatures for much (if not all) of the eastern United States in the coming weeks. It could also feature multiple chances for impactful winter storms, but any details on those are far too early to pinpoint and will, of course, vary by location.
Key Points:
- A large scale and likely impactful pattern change is on the way for vast majority of the eastern half of the country.
- This change will not only feature well below average temperatures, but they will be coming during the time of the year that's also naturally the coldest climatologically. This means the potential for dangerously cold wind chills and potentially frozen pipes during the middle of the month exists.
- As the cold, Arctic air fully entrenches during the second and third weeks of January, there may be multiple opportunities for impactful winter storms, but any details on them are too far off to speculate.
- Enjoy the relative quiet the next few days, and be prepared for big changes in the weather pattern over the next week or two.
As we all know, Mother Nature can be unpredictable, and this information could change at any time. However, as we prepare to return to school after the New Year, I wanted to make you aware of this situation and remind you to please make sure you review the CSD inclement weather guidelines ASAP by clicking on the following link: Parents/Guardians Inclement Weather Letter.
Thank you for your collaboration and continued support.
